Knowing what each metric means is the difference between buying a powerful backlink and wasting money on a worthless domain. This guide breaks down every value shown in our checker — from Domain Authority to Spam Score — and explains how to use them to evaluate PBNs, guest post opportunities, and your own site's link profile.
📊 Domain Authority (DA) – Moz
Domain Authority is a logarithmic score from 1 to 100 that predicts how well a domain will rank on search engines. It's based on linking root domains and total links. In 2026, a DA above 40 is considered decent for niche edits, while 50+ is strong for guest posts. However, DA alone is not enough — many PBNs manipulate DA by pointing high‑DA redirects or low‑quality links. Always cross‑check with traffic and Spam Score.
📈 Domain Rating (DR) – Ahrefs
Domain Rating measures the strength of a website's backlink profile on a scale from 0 to 100. Unlike DA, DR focuses more on the quality and quantity of unique referring domains, and it updates more frequently. A DR 50+ site is typically a solid editorial platform. A big gap between DA and DR (e.g., DA 60 but DR 10) often indicates link manipulation or a domain that recently lost links.
⚖️ Trust Flow (TF) & Citation Flow (CF) – Majestic
Trust Flow measures the quality of links pointing to a domain, based on how trustworthy the linking sites are. Citation Flow measures link volume. The ideal TF/CF ratio is above 0.5. A high CF but low TF (ratio below 0.3) suggests many low‑quality links — a classic PBN footprint. We display both numbers so you can quickly spot unnatural profiles.
🚫 Spam Score – Moz
Spam Score estimates the percentage of penalised or spammy sites linking to the domain. Anything below 5% is generally safe. Between 5% and 15% warrants manual review. Over 15% is a red flag, especially if the domain also shows no organic traffic. Our checker colour‑codes the result: green (0‑4%), yellow (5‑14%), red (15%+).
🌐 Estimated Organic Traffic
This metric pulls from Semrush/Ahrefs estimates to show monthly organic visits. A site with a DA of 60 but only 100 visits/month is likely a PBN or a domain that lost all its rankings. We recommend using this alongside DA/DR to filter out "empty" authority sites.
🔗 Referring Domains & Indexed Pages
The number of unique domains linking to the site. A natural profile has a healthy ratio of referring domains to indexed pages (e.g., 1,000 pages and 500 ref domains is fine; 10 pages with 5,000 ref domains is suspicious). Indexed pages count gives insight into the site's size — real editorial sites usually have hundreds or thousands of indexed pages.

- Traffic > 500/month: Even a PBN with traffic can pass relevance signals.
- TF/CF ratio > 0.4: Below that, the domain likely has link spam.

- No overlap in IP/hosting with your other links.
