Are backlinks still important for SEO after AI Overviews?

Yes. Backlinks remain the strongest signal for traditional rankings, which are the primary feeder for AI Overview citations.

Do AI Overviews use backlinks to rank sources?

Indirectly. They rely on Google's existing ranking systems, which are powered by links. A page that ranks in the top five due to strong backlinks is more likely to be cited.

How many backlinks do I need to appear in AI Overviews?

It depends on competition. My research showed that pages with 15-18 clean links and top-eight rankings began appearing in AI Overviews regularly.

Can brand mentions replace backlinks?

Not replace, but supplement. Brand mentions are essential for AI visibility, but you still need links to achieve the traditional rankings that feed the AI.

What link building tactics are safest for AI Overviews?

Clean PBN links from niche-relevant domains, niche edits on aged authoritative pages, and safe guest posts. All must use natural anchors and avoid footprints.

How does the March update affect AI Overviews link building?

It made link quality even more critical. Low-quality links were devalued, causing both traditional and AI visibility drops. Clean links survived.

How does BuyPBNLinks help with AI Overview visibility?
